What is Comparative Adjective?

Comparative form 

  • Comparative adjectives are used to compare differences between the two people, objects  or things. 
  • The adjective in the comparative form is usually followed by the word than.

Spelling 

  • Adjectives which end in -e = take -r

       e.g.:  larg---> larger 

  • One-syllable adjectives which end in one vowel + one consonant = double the consonant and take -er 

      e.g.: big ---> bigger

  • Adjectives ending in consonant + y, change the y to i and take -er 

       e.g.: happy ----> happier
